is on the military reservation of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
"The Gap" is an active training facility for the Pennsylvania Air and Army National Guard,
and is the second most active Army aviation facility in the continental United States.
The military officials at The Gap have been very supportive of our flying activities.
At their suggestion, RAMTEC-20 is being held over a holiday weekend,
when training activities are minimal.
RAMTEC-20 Commemorative Medals will be presented for 1st Place in each event
in Divisions A, B, C, D (Adult Teams)
Drawings will be held through out the two days for kits donated from the Dale Greene estate.
Must be present to accept the kit.
The Contest Range will be open Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 9am to 2pm.
All NRC events may be flown either Saturday or Sunday.
A separate Sport Range will be open for flying both days during operation of the contest range.
A waiver to 6,000 feet AGL will be in place with a "I" motor impulse limit
provided the rocket can stay below the waiver altitude.
All flights are subject to clearance of the Range Safety Officer.
Registration fee for the competition is:
A/B Division $5.00, C Division $15.00, D Division $20.00
Sport Flying is FREE!
Advanced Registration is preferred, however on-site registration and check-in will be Saturday morning at the range.
This is an NRC Sanctioned Launch.
The launch is open to all flights of the six NRC events slated for the 2017-2018 contest year.
Registration fee for non-competition participants is $5.00 for all division.
You will not be eligible for RAMTEC awards.
This is our first launch under the new 2017 Sporting Code.
Here are some highlights of rule changes.
Teams of two or more are permitted in A and B Divisions and will fly alongside individual competitors.
D Division is for Adult teams or teams with at least one adult member
There are no teams in C Division
The NAR Standard Payload used in Payload Altitude has changed.
The new minimum dimensions are 17mm minimum dia x 60mm min length. Weight must still be no less than 28 grams
Payloads will be available to borrow at the range, however, you may bring your own.
For all duration flights the return rule is suspended during the NRC contest year except in the case of a safety ruling.
NEW this year is the "Triple Max Rule" (184.108.40.206) which states, "Based on the sum of two (2) flights,
a competitor that can achieve as his/her official score a NRC maximum for that NRC event,
will receive a rank of one (1) in that event", on the National Scoreboard.
Altimeters no longer must be installed in front of the safety check-in official.
Also, vent holes are no longer required.
Motor manufacturer names and designations will be recorded on the flight card,
however, motors will no longer be checked at safety check-in. No more of that pre-checking a motor mess.
IMPORTANT All persons attending RAMTEC-20, whether flying, observing, baby sitting or
just shooting the breeze MUST complete and submit a
Release and Hold Harmless Agreement.
An agreement must be completed for each and every adult and child that attends.
The Hold Harmless Agreements part of the registration packet.
They must be turned in no later than your arrival on site for RAMTEC.
